| Notes for Lt. Col. John HIGGINBOTHAM |
| He is thought to be the John "Hickombottom", aged 24 who sailed on the good ship BONAVENTURE from London to Virginia in 1634. Much trade was going on between the colonies of England and Barbados in those days. The principle trades were slaves, rum, molasses and sugar. Many Virginia colonists had plantations or holdings in both Virginia and Barbados. He took the oath of allegiance to the British Crown and became a soldier, he was styled a Lt. Colonel in 1666. His will was probated in the Parish of St. Philip, Island of Barbados, 11-27-1673. |
